The Quadrant Gardens residential development in Cape Town required storage units to be constructed on the basement parking level for the building's residents. Aertec AAC was specified for the speed of construction achievable in the constrained basement environment, where material delivery, cutting, and waste removal must all be managed within a limited working space.
Basement construction presents specific challenges for masonry work: the height restrictions, limited access, and the need to protect the existing parking surface during construction all constrain the use of conventional masonry. Aertec AAC's lightweight blocks, precision cutting, and minimal waste generation made it the ideal material for this application.
The successful completion of the Quadrant Gardens storage units led to repeat specifications for the same development type in subsequent projects.
