A newly acquired penthouse at Heylon Court in Cape Town underwent extensive renovations and extensions. The client required a walling material that could minimise additional load on the existing roof structure while delivering the premium finish expected in a penthouse renovation.
Aertec AAC was the ideal choice: at 400 kg/m³ density (vs 1,900 kg/m³ for clay brick), the blocks reduced the additional structural load to a minimum. The material's precision dimensions enabled clean, straight walls ready for a single coat of CEM-SKIM plaster and paint.
The renovation also benefited from AAC's acoustic performance, separating the penthouse from building services and providing a quiet, comfortable living environment.
