The Paradys Park Shopping Centre extension in Cape Town includes a new Spar supermarket as the anchor tenant. Aertec AAC was specified for the extension walling based on its speed of construction — enabling a faster schedule to meet the tenant's opening date — and its compatibility with the existing shopping centre structure.
Supermarket fit-outs require a walling system with strong fire resistance — critical for food preparation areas — and the ability to provide a clean, durable substrate for the finishes required in a retail food environment. Aertec AAC met both requirements with its non-combustible classification and moisture-resistant surface.
The project demonstrates Aertec AAC's growing adoption in South African retail construction, where speed to tenant opening and technical performance are the primary specification drivers.
