A residential project in the Western Cape Winelands required a walling material light enough to be accommodated by the existing foundations, which had limited capacity for additional load. Aertec AAC was the ideal solution: at 400 kg/m³, the blocks are approximately one quarter the weight of clay brick, enabling the required walling to be built without structural reinforcement of the existing foundations.
The Winelands location demanded a material with good thermal performance for the warm-summer, cool-winter climate, as well as a finish quality consistent with the premium nature of Winelands properties. Aertec AAC delivered on both requirements, with its thermal mass properties providing natural temperature regulation and its precision surface enabling a premium plaster finish.
The project demonstrates AAC's significant structural advantage in renovation and extension work where existing foundations constrain the available walling weight.
