Grand West Casino & Entertainment World in Cape Town undertook a revamp of their master plan substation area. The original walling specification was reviewed and changed to Aertec AAC based on its superior fire resistance rating and the significant speed advantage it offered in meeting the tight refurbishment schedule.
Fire resistance is a critical specification requirement in entertainment facilities, where large numbers of people require safe egress in the event of fire. Aertec AAC is non-combustible and carries a superior fire rating compared to conventional masonry materials, meeting the stringent fire engineering requirements for this type of application.
The speed advantage of AAC — approximately 3× faster than conventional masonry — was equally important for this project, where minimising the duration of the construction work in an active entertainment venue was a primary operational priority.
